BUT language recognition system for NIST 2007 evaluations

چکیده
This paper describes Brno University of Technology (BUT) system for 2007 NIST Language recognition (LRE) evaluation. The system is a fusion of 4 acoustic and 9 phonotactic subsystems. We have investigated several new topics such as discriminatively trained language models in phonotactic systems, and eigen-channel adaptation in model and feature domain in acoustic systems. We also point out the importance of calibration and fusion. All results are presented on NIST 2007 LRE data.

NIST language recognition evaluation - plans for 2015
We discuss two NIST coordinated evaluations of automatic language recognition technology planned for calendar year 2015 along with possible additional plans for the future. The first is the Language Recognition i-Vector Machine Learning Challenge, largely modeled on the 2013-2014 Speaker Recognition i-Vector Machine Learning Challenge. This online challenge, emphasizing the language identificat...
متن کاملSession variability compensation in speaker and language recognition
This report summarises the research work performed by the author in order to start his Ph.D Thesis which is based on robust automatic speaker and language recognition. One of the main causes of errors in automatic speaker and language recognition systems is due to intrinsic variability between sessions of a same speaker. This variability known as session or channel variability is caused by seve...
متن کاملA Study of the Influence of Speech Type on Automatic Language Recognition Performance
Automatic language recognition on spontaneous speech has experienced a rapid development in the last few years. This development has been in part due to the competitive technological Language Recognition Evaluations (LRE) organized by the National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST). Until now, the need to have clearly defined and consistent evaluations has kept some real-life applicat...
متن کاملEvaluation of spoken language recognition technology using broadcast speech: performance and challenges
Spoken Language Recognition (SLR) technology has remarkably improved in the last years, partly thanks to NIST Language Recognition Evaluations (LRE), which have become standard benchmarks for testing new approaches. NIST evaluations focus on narrow-band conversational telephone speech and deal with some specific target languages. Recent efforts to expand the scope of SLR technology assessment i...
متن کاملAdvances in phonotactic language recognition
This paper summarizes recent advances in PRLM language recognition within the context of the NIST 2007 LR evaluations (LRE). We present a comparison of binary decision tree (BT) vs. N -gram models when adaptation from a universal (background) model (UBM) is used, we introduce multi-models— anchor-model-like approach to scoring, and we adopt the framework of intersession variation using factor a...
